We're facing a climate emergency

The world is seeing record-breaking extreme weather and as each year goes by it will get worse.

And the UK is not immune from these extremes with some predicting that within the next 20 years, we will have extreme heat of over 40%C for days in a row.

Extreme heat in the UK and globally will affect our food supplies and endanger food security for many. The heat will cause fatality for many especially those who are older and living alone.

We have an emergency that we must address now. The longer we delay the worse it will get and the more it will cost. It is time to act and act now.

Taking Action Locally

We are an action group created to confront the emergency climate change imposes on us all.

In the Paris Agreement, almost all the nations of the Earth agreed to hold "the increase in the global average temperature to well below 2°C above pre-industrial levels and to pursue efforts to limit the temperature increase to 1.5°C above pre-industrial levels". We are heading for a 3 to 4% rise in temperature by the end of this century. This increase will be a global catastrophe.

Tackling this has to be a community-wide effort. Encaf is a network to build partnerships, form working groups, exchange information and good practice.

More than 140 groups in the Borough are keen to come together to try and make a difference. Our Forum meets regularly to exchange information, network and decide on critical action points. Please join us!
